The Thermostat has three parts:

– A Solenoid Assy with an electrical connector

– A Pressure Reducing Valve Assy with the Fan Air Valve port

– A Thermostat Assy with two different regulating sticks 150 °C (302 °F) and 200 °C (392 °F) and a filter.

恒温器有三个部件:

Operation (Fig FUNC-9 and Fig FUNC-10)

Governed by the temperature inside the piping onto which it is attached, the thermostat provides the driving pressure to the fan air valve. A solenoid allows to choose the temperature regulation level, by selecting one of the two rods which acts as a clapper. The temperature regulation levels are 150 °C (302 °F) and 200 °C (392 °F). The temperature regulation level is 200 °C (392 °F) if the solenoid is not energized (Refer to Fig FUNC-9). The temperature regulation level is 150 °C (302 °F) if the solenoid is energized (Refer to Fig FUNC-10).

An air-to-air Precooler Heat-Exchanger (PCE) controls the temperature of the engine bleed air supplied to the distribution system. The engine fan supplies cool air through a Fan Air Valve (FAV) to the PCE. A temperature control thermostat (THC), installed downstream of the PCE controls the butterfly plate of the FAV. This controls the quantity of cool air that enters the PCE.

This sub-system comprises the following components:

– a precooler exchanger

– a fan air valve associated with a control thermostat.

This sub-system enables the aircraft systems to be supplied with air under a normal temperature lower than or equal to 200⁰C. A second level of control at 150⁰C (adjustable) is available. It is activated by the BMC according to the demand of the air conditioning system. The bleed air is cooled down by modulating the air flow bled from the engine fan through the precooler exchanger. At the precooler exchanger outlet, the control thermostat adjusts the fan air valve control pressure and thereby the valve butterfly position so as to limit the temperature at the above mentioned values.

(b) Operation

The assembly including the fan air valve and the fan air valve control thermostat is capable of adjusting the temperature detected by the corresponding probe to a stabilized value.

The control thermostat supplies and controls the fan air valve motive pressure depending on the precooler exchanger outlet temperature.

The thermostat provides two temperature settings selected by means of a solenoid:

– solenoid not energized: 200 plus or minus 15⁰C

– solenoid energized: 150 plus or minus 15⁰C.

– 电磁阀通电: 150±15⁰C。

NOTE : In addition, ECAM Display introduces a tolerance for temperature indication of plus or minus 5⁰C. Therefore, the regulated temperature downstream of the precooler exchanger shown on the ECAM, must be within these tolerances.

– solenoid not energized: 200 plus or minus 20⁰C.

– solenoid energized: 150 plus or minus 20⁰C.

This solenoid is energized by the BMC in case of pack low temperature demand. This function is inhibited when the wing anti ice system is selected on.

(c) Thermostat pressure reducing valve

The pressure used by the control thermostat is picked off from the outlet of the precooler exchanger. The pressure sent to the fan air valve opening chamber is modulated by the expansion of the temperature probes.

(d) Temperature probes

The control thermostat ensures temperature regulation to two different levels(150⁰C and 200⁰C) depending on the command that it receives from the solenoid. When the solenoid is not energized,the probe adjusted to 150⁰C is isolated and the control thermostat regulates the temperature to 200⁰C. When the solenoid is energized,the probe adjusted to 200⁰C is isolated and the control thermostat regulates the temperature to 150⁰C.
