The thermostat pneumatically supplies and controls the servo-chamber of the Fan Air Valve in relation with the temperature measured at the precooler outlet.

Two functions adjust the servopressure in the chamber (A) of the pressure reducer.

When the precooled air temperature is more than or equal to a set value, the regulating probe controls the Fan Air Valve to adjust the fan air flowrate. This function is related to the differential thermal expansion between the stainless steel tube and the Invar rod, which opens the rod valve and releases the pressure in chamber A. This supplies a pressure into the servo-chamber of the Fan Air Valve that changes frequently between clapper and its seat. Because of this, the Fan Air Valve adjusts a cooling airflow in relation to the temperature conditions measured at the precooled air outlet.

• Normal value: 185 to 215 °C (365 to 419 °F) within the pressure and temperature ranges.

Downstream of the PRV an overpressure valve (OPV) (5HA) is installed to protect the pneumatic system against damage if overpressure occurs. To keep the temperature within the limits, a fan air valve (FAV) (9HA) is installed in the cooling air duct which supplies fan air to the precooler exchanger .

The FAV operates pneumatically and is connected by a sense line to a fan air valve control thermostat (7170HM). The thermostat is installed downstream of the precooler exchanger.

在PRV 的下游安装有一个超压活门(OPV)(5HA),用以保护气源系统免遭超压的损伤。为了将温度保持在极限内,在冷却空气管道内安装有一个风扇空气活门(FAV)(9HA),该活门提供风扇空气到预冷器交换器。

Fan Air Valve Control Thermostat

(1) The fan air valve control thermostat is installed downstream of the bleed air precooler exchanger. It controls, through the fan air valve, the engine fan cooling airflow in order to maintain the bleed air temperature to 200 deg.C (392 deg.F) plus or minus 15 deg.C (27 deg.F).

(2) Detailed Description (Ref. Fig. 030)

The fan air valve control thermostat contains two mains parts:

– A temperature sensing element

– A pressure regulator.

(a) Regulation

When the temperature downstream of the precooler exchanger is below the required value:

– the INVAR rod valve remains on its seat

– no air flows through the pressure regulator

– the FAV remains closed.

When the temperature is over the required value differential expansion between the INVAR rod and the stainless steel sensing tube opens the rod valve causing the venting of the chamber A and thus allowing a pressure signal through the thermostat to the opening chamber of the FAV.

– Between both values the FAV butterfly has an intermediate position.

风扇空气活门控制恒温器

(a) 调节

FAV/CONTROL THERMOSTAT

The Fan Air Valve (FAV) pneumatically regulates the fan airflow to the precooler for bleed air temperature regulation at 200°C (392°F). The FAV is pneumatically controlled by an external servo-control: the FAV control thermostat (CTL THERMST), located downstream from the precooler.

风扇空气活门 / 控制恒温器
